Trilogy Refresh and Shine - Shampoo and Conditioner

I recently received Trilogy Refresh and Shine shampoo and conditioner from MyPure. They’re a store online that sell organic skincare and their range of products go from one end of the spectrum to the other. If you want organic, natural beauty products you’ll find them all here.

The Trilogy Refresh And Shine shampoo claims to do a few things but the one thing I was most interested in is that it claims to rinse away product build up. Yes please! I use a lot of products: leave in conditioner, dry hair shampoo, hair spray, the list goes on! I try to be but I’m not very kind to my hair.

I’m sad to say that I didn’t particularly love this shampoo. It cleaned my hair but I had to wash it twice before it felt as clean as it normally would with other shampoo brands. It also didn’t lather that much. I know the lather isn’t important but once I rubbed the shampoo in I felt like I was just massaging wet hair. I guess the lather makes me feel like I’m actually working with something and I felt that missing. It sells for £12.50.

The Trilogy Refresh And Shine conditioner was a big hit though! A very well invested £12.50! It smells absolutely amazing, like sherbet almost. Really nice. My detangling comb just slid through my hair after using it which is a big plus in my book! It also gave my hair an amazing shine that I can normally only achieve after just getting my hair dyed. Strange, I know! The conditioner is also very light, it doesn’t weigh down my hair. It is so great that it makes me even more frustrated that the shampoo isn’t quite on the same level. It’s a shame really.

Pulpe De Vie skincare

A few months ago Funky Skincare sent me one of their new bath teabags to review

This week I received a wee package in the mail and was pleasantly surprised to see that Funky Skincare had sent me a few Pulpe De Vie samples to review. I love the products these folks sell as all of them boast that they are chemical free, no SLS and no parabens. Good stuff! :-)

Lucious Glow Body Milk ~ £17.90 for 150ml tube
I have never been a fan of shimmering body milks because I've found in the past that they look too obvious on my pasty pale skin. I was genuinely impressed with this body milk though. It has a very complimentary shimmer that the light catches now and again.
It is made from grapefruit and blackcurrant waters so I expected the fragrance to be stronger than it was. With that said, it did smell lovely, very delicate.

Sweet Frappe Face 2 in 1 Scrub and Mask ~ £19.50 for 75ml tube
I loved this, loved, loved, loved it.

It contains little apricot kernels which make for a fantastic exfoliator. You basically massage this onto dry skin, leave it for 5 minutes and then massage again as you rinse it off. My skin was so soft afterwards. It didn't feel tight like it normally would after a face mask. It also wasn't difficult to rinse off. The scrub turns into a type of milk as you rinse it away. Lovely!

Cozy Cuddle Moisturising and Anti-Oxidant Face Cream ~ £20 for 30ml pump action bottle
My first concern when trying a new face cream is whether its greasy/oily. I tend to have a shiny T-zone so I don't need an oily/greasy moisturisers encouraging it! :-) I only had the opportunity to apply this once so I can't be 100% sure its not oily/greasy, especially as I didn't get the chance to wear it under my makeup.
I know scents are irrelevant to some people but I'm very much led on what things smell like whether its skincare, candles or perfume to give a few examples. This stuff smells beautifully peachy.

Love Me Tonight Night Cream ~ £21 for 30ml pump action bottle
A fragrant, spicy anti ageing night cream. I loved the almost musky scent this cream offered. It feels quite rich on the skin which I like in a night cream. I like to know that I'm giving my skin plenty of goodness to soak up while I'm getting my beauty sleep. :-)

Keep moisturised with MyPure.

I recently had the opportunity to review two lovely products from MyPure. I love these guys because they are all about natural, organic beauty.

I decided to review the Lovea SPF 50 Daily Face Cream (new formula). Its currently priced at £17.99 for 50ml. This wee pot is jam packed full of anti-aging ingredients and given that I'm in my early 30's now I'm all for fighting the signs with any artillery I can get my hands on!
I often find sunscreens quite drying but I've been using this for a week now and it leaves my skin feeling surprisingly soft.
The only con is that while it states that it can be worn under makeup I've tried and it certainly can't be worn under my particular make up. I suffer from shiny patches as it is and these appear within minutes while wearing Lovea and foundation together. With that said, I would rather wear Lovea face cream on a hot day and protect my skin, as opposed to wearing make up and damaging my skin.

The second product I picked to review was the A'kin Pureman aftershave balm. Its priced at £9.60 for 75ml. I have been using the A'kin serum recently and I was curious to see if the men's range stood up as strongly as the women's. The fragrance of this aftershave balm is a mixture of orange, Ginseng and spice. It smells great, even my dad commented on how nice it smelled. I gave it to him to try out for me and he said his skin felt less "angry" after shaving once he applied this. He also said that it wasn't greasy which is a big deal breaker for him. He mentioned that if the fragrance is an issue for anyone then to let them know that it fades pretty quickly. He is liking it so much that he has asked me if I could pick him up another bottle once this one runs out so I think that's a big thumbs up!

Ginger and Co. review and COMPETITION!

I have always believed that the most expensive items are not necessarily the best ones when it comes to beauty products. Ginger and Co. bath and body products are the perfect example that the cheaper end of the market can be every bit as brilliant.

I recently got my mitts on what I think is their full range of products. They really are pretty great! I love the look of their packaging, they have quite a vintage/pin up girls look about them and look so cute on my bathroom shelf.

The range consists of:

Hand It To Me Hand Cream 100ml - £1.99
Soft On You Daily Body Lotion 500ml - £2.75
Soft On You comforting Body Butter 485g - £2.75
Double Up Creamy Body Wash 250ml - £2.75
Heavenly Hands Hand Wash 500ml - £2.75
Bathing Beauty Bubble Bath 500ml - £2.75

How cheap is that! I mean you can get the whole range for a little over £15. They're definitely going to be a staple in my bath and body routine from now on.

Their fragrance is so nice. It lingers as well so I can still smell it on my skin hours after showering or moisturising. I know some people have called Ginger and Co. the perfect dupe for Soap and Glory and I can see why they say that. They do smell quite similar but their price tags are vastly different so its Ginger and Co. for me each time!

Ginger and Co. products are available in the USA via Ulta and have also been available in the UK for a while now through SemiChem. Its an exciting time for them at the moment as they have just recently launched their products in Penneys here in Ireland. Yay!

To celebrate this I'm having a giveaway here on Kid And Capers.

Three lucky people will win a Ginger and Co. Mini Trio Set and they will also win a €10 Penneys voucher, or if the winner is in the UK they will win a £10 Primark voucher instead. All you have to do is enter the Rafflecopter below.

The rules bit:
~ Ginger and Co. will fulfil the prizes. I will just hold the competition and pass on the winner's details.
~ Competition is open to UK and Ireland only.
~ Winners have 72 hours to respond to email before another winner will be chosen.
~ There are a few mandatory entries required and they will be checked.
~ Competition ends on Friday 2nd May.

Good luck folks!

MYPURE A'kin and Hurraw review.

This month I had the opportunity to put in an order on the MYPURE website. I have been wanting to try some of their products for a while now. They're all about organic skincare and that's an avenue I have definitely been wanting to explore. I can see now why so many people move across exclusively to organic skincare products.

Anyway, onto the products I tried. I have recently been trying to be kinder to my skin and that means more than a splash of water and some moisturiser for me. I know, shame on me!

In a recent post I tried my first skin serum. You can find that post here. I was impressed with just how effective these serums are so when I seen A'kin Revitalising Cellular Radiance Serum I knew that I wanted to give it a go.

This product is an anti-age formula and being in my early 30s I'm all for nipping any signs of "wear and tear" in the bud! It has a luxurious texture and when you apply the recommended 3-4 drops after cleansing you can just feel your skin thanking you for it. I spend a lot of time outdoors and so my skin dries out quickly, this serum seems to almost rehydrate it and it immediately begins to feel softer. Its not at all oily like you might imagine it to be either. My skin absorbed it so quickly that there was no real shine.

Its currently on offer too at £23.40 so if you want to try something new, give this a go. I definitely definitely recommend it. The only thing I would say (and its not a big deal) is that I think a pump would be more effective than the wee bottle dropper.

I mentioned before that I spend a lot of time outdoors and how it dries my skin out quite quickly. Unfortunately the same applies to my lips. I used to lather them in a particular lip balm but I've recently discovered that it actually just dries them out even more. Based on that, I decided to try the HURRAW! grapefruit lip balm which is a steal at £3.59 and 100% natural.

When I read the ingredients on this item I noticed that it contained coconut oil. When my son was born he was quite sensitive, coconut oil was the only thing that didn't cause a reaction so I used it on him for everything from massages to a moisturiser. Its good stuff so I knew I was onto a good thing with the lip balm at that point.

It smells exactly like grapefruit, not sickly and artificial like a lot of lip balms on the market. The stick is an oval shape which shouldn't matter either way but I actually prefer it when applying it. I have found that when using some lip balms I have had to drag them across my lips but HURRAW! glides on easily and I'm imagining that that too is thanks to the coconut oil.

All in all, I'm impressed with MYPURE, everything from their delivery speed to their customer communications and the best thing of all.....the 100% natural products.

Have you shopped with MYPURE?

Cheeky Wipes

When I was getting ready to have my son last year I was going through the usual decisions a mum-to-be has to make. What steriliser? Do I breastfeed or formula feed? What type of Moses basket should I get? The list goes on & on.
At the time I also thought about reusable nappies/wipes versus disposable nappies/wipes. Being a single mum-to-be I decided there was no way I'd have time to look after my new baby, plus do a mountain of nappy laundry as well.
I try to do my bit for the environment so it has always stuck in my craw that I'm using disposable nappies and wipes. That's not to say I'm judging those that do! I just felt like I should have at least tried reusables, but when that wee bundle arrives you just get caught up in him/her.
I'm finally in the process of making the switch now, only 11 months late! :-) I'm still trying to decide on which reusable nappy to go for but I've made the switch to reusable wipes, namely Cheeky Wipes

Just recently I had the opportunity to try out the Cheeky Wipes All-In-One Kit. After using the wipes for a while now, I really don't know what I thought was so daunting about reusuables! Cheeky Wipes makes the whole process so simple.

The All-In-One Kit contains the following:
- 25 soft cloth baby wipes, 15cm x 15cm. You can choose from cotton terry, 'Ultimate' cotton & cotton velour or microfiber.
- 'Single-Clip' Fresh Baby Wipes container.
- 'Single-Clip' Mucky Baby Wipes container - with mesh bag insert.
- Cheeky Wipes Fresh Baby Wipes waterproof out and about travel bag.
- Cheeky Wipes Mucky Baby Wipes waterproof out and about travel bag - with mesh bag insert.
- 10 ml bottle of Fresh Baby Wipes Essential Oil Blend. You can choose from Lavender & Chamomile, Mandarin & teatree or Rose & Rose Geranium.
- 10 ml bottle of Tea Tree & Tea Tree Lemon Mucky Baby Wipes Essential Oil Blend.

Onto using the wee system! :-) I'll speak about the Fresh Wipes container first. Its so simple! You literally fill the container up with water to the fill line and add a few drops of your Fresh Wipes essential oil, I have been using the Lavendar and Chamomile one and it smells fantastic, not overpowering, just really clean. Then you pop your clean wipes in and turn them now and again to soak up that fragrant water. :-) That's it! There's a single clip on each container so everything is nice and secure. My son still tried to get into it but I'm pleased to say, he failed. :-)
Cheeky Wipes suggests that every two days you pop any unused wipes into your machine just to freshen them up. Plus, you don't need to wait for the laundered wipes to dry - just pop them back into the Fresh Wipes container with some fresh soaking solution.

Now, onto the Mucky Wipes container. Same thing again, fill it up with water to the fill line and add a few drops of the Mucky Wipes essential oil. Then attach the mesh bag insert to the wee hooks in the box and you're good to go.

I particularly loved the Mucky/Fresh Wipes waterproof out and about bags. They don't take up much room in your baby bag for a start and if you don't like the idea of touching the "mucky" wipes at the end of a day out then all you have to do is loosen the drawstring on the bag and pop them in the machine. I love that!

You can wash the wipes anywhere from 30-70 degrees but Cheeky Wipes do suggest washing them once a week at 60 degrees. I just bung them in with my towel wash.
And just to add, the All-In-One kit is £39. You might want extra wipes if your baby is smaller but 25 wipes is more than enough for my wee boy now that he's older.
My only regret is that I didn't go with them from the beginning. I can only imagine the money I would have saved & no faffing around with cotton wool & cool boiled water in the early weeks!

Have any of you tried Cheeky Wipes? How much did you love them? :-)

Much love.

Lisa. xx

Swell Pets

So I found I was able to have a wee splurge recently and spoil my little Buddy, a very pampered Yorkshire terrier. Since the baby has come along I have had to forgo some of Buddy's treats for y'know...nappies, formula etc. :-)

I found a great wee site at http://www.swellpets.co.uk/ They literally seem to have everything that a pet owner could possibly want or need. I was specifically interested in their dog section but I did have a nosey at the other areas and most, if not all, items seem to be reduced from their RRP.

Anyway, onto the fun part, the shopping! :-) I have an issue with Buddy scratching the sofa when he's trying to get comfy. It drives me absolutely bananas. I have tried putting down a blanket but he just claws at it until its moved and he's back on the sofa again. I spied the Cleo Pet Sofa Loafer and decided I had to have it. It really is a fab' item and keenly priced at £23.79. It protects the sofa with its waterproof base so if Buddy manages to get up there when he's wet it doesn't soak through to my sofa. The part that covers the armrest can be switched from one side to the other depending on the end you prefer. Buddy has tried his best to move it but its non slip so that solves that problem!

I also picked up a gorgeous wee Ancol Paw & Bone collar for £3.99. Its red and the cutest wee collar. I got a few compliments out on our daily walks this week which is always nice. :-)

Finally, I thought Buddy deserved a new toy. He loves working off some energy on tug toys so that seemed like the obvious choice. Swell Pets has 8 different dog toy sections but I find it very difficult to pass a Kong toy when I see one. They stand up to all the abuse that Buddy puts them through! I decided on the Kong Tugger Monkey which was £8.99. It took about three seconds before he was all over it, carrying it around waiting for someone to take him up on the offer. :-)

With some sites I find that they only offer free P&P when your basket reaches an extortionate total. Swell Pets offer free P&P on orders over £29.

Their customer service is friendly & fast. I literally cannot fault them & will definitely be making future purchases on their site rather than trawling local pet stores.

Have any of you shopped on Swell Pets? What was your experience?

Much love. xx

Bluebell 33 candles

I'm a big fan of scented candles. I love walking through my house & smelling different scents. Normally I'm a die hard Yankee Candle fan but at Christmas I received a Bluebell 33 candle. It was a single wick Pomegranate & Rosewood scent. My word, it is amazing! It's strong but not overpowering & I'm pretty sad that I'm getting to the end of it! :-)

It's described on their site (www.bluebell33.com) as "A modern, sophisticated & spellbinding scent. Fruit top notes rest with a hint of clove nestling into a background rich in amber and musk." It comes with a pretty "Mummy" label on it which was such a nice touch since it was a Christmas gift from my wee baby son. :-)
It's suggested that the burn time is approximately 40 hours.
I seen some sold on Amazon & the price seems to range from £12.95-£14. Very reasonable!
Have any of you burned any Bluebell 33 candles?

Love. xx
